Vasu Bandhu fait partie de ces jeunes qui bousculent le monde grâce à leurs convictions et leurs rêves ! Les conflits entre communautés religieuses l’insupportent et il souhaite trouver dans chacune de ses actions la beauté d’une relation dans la différence ! Il aime découvrir l’interreligieux dans le silence de l’instant.Vasu Bandhu a 26 ans et a grandi à Mexico City dans une famille de l’Église de Jésus Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours. Lors de sa mission pour l’Église au Salvador à 18 ans, il découvre Religions for Peace (RfP) et fait pour la première fois l’expérience du monde interreligieux. Cela devient la vocation de sa vie, qu’il vit même au sein de son couple. Aujourd’hui, Vasu Bandhu est bouddhiste de la tradition zen. C’est un jeune activiste hyperactif de l’interconvictionnel et de l’interreligieux depuis 7 ans ! À son retour au Mexique, Vasu Bandhu crée l’organisation « Fraternidad Interspiritual »* qui regroupe des jeunes de différentes convictions qui dialoguent et agissent ensemble ! En 2020, il quitte le Mexique pour l’Arizona. Il s’engage alors auprès de l’association Arizona Faith Network, en parallèle de quoi il soutient l’action de communication de Religions for Peace (RfP), collabore avec l’Initiative des Religions Unies (URI) et le Parlement des Religions du Monde, entre autres organisations. Personnellement, Vasu Bandhu souhaite rendre l’interreligieux plus accessible, alors que l’anglais est souvent prépondérant lors des rassemblements internationaux, notamment en proposant de l’interprétariat de manière systématique. Nous étions heureuses de découvrir une nouvelle manière, plus poétique, de vivre l’interreligieux et d’enfin rencontrer à notre tour ce jeune leader incontournable de l’interconvictionnel !
L’organisation
On a rencontré Vasu Bandhu et la révérende Katie de l’Arizona Faith Network, deux personnes profondément engagées tant en termes spirituels que pour la justice ! L’Arizona Faith Network (AFN) @az.faith.network a été créé en 1940 en tant qu’organisation chrétienne protestante et devient oecuménique en 1960. L’organisation se mue ensuite en une association interreligieuse et réunit des personnes de près de 26 convictions religieuses et spirituelles différentes. Elle organise des visites de lieux de culte et des événements qu’elle nomme « Faith 101 ». L’association met en place des actions de dialogue, de solidarité et porte un plaidoyer fort sur les questions de justice sociale. Les membres se réunissent en comités par thématiques de travail et s’engagent sur la question des droits des peuples natifs ou des personnes incarcérées par exemple. Ils et elles prient, échangent et agissent ensemble. En tant que directrice exécutive et coordinateur des communautés, Katie et Vasu Bandhu ont pour objectif à travers les actions de l’Arizona Faith Network de créer des amitiés et l’unité entre les personnes pour le bien commun !
Leur conseil ? “S’autoriser à être déplacé et transformé par une autre tradition sans se convertir, ne pas venir uniquement pour parler de sa propre tradition mais apprendre des autres.”

Vasu Bandhu is one of those young people who shake up the world with their convictions and their dreams! The conflicts between religious communities are unbearable for him and he wishes to find in each of his actions the beauty of a relationship in the difference! He likes to discover interreligious in the silence of the moment. Vasu Bandhu is 26 years old and grew up in Mexico City in a family of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While on a mission for the Church in El Salvador at age 18, he discovered Religions for Peace (RfP) and experienced the interfaith world for the first time. This became his life’s vocation, which he lived out even within his marriage. Today, Vasu Bandhu is a Buddhist of the Zen tradition. He is a young hyperactive interfaith and interreligious activist for 7 years! Upon his return to Mexico, Vasu Bandhu created the organization “Fraternidad Interspiritual “* which brings together young people of different beliefs who dialogue and act together! In 2020, he left Mexico for Arizona. There he became involved with the Arizona Faith Network, in parallel to which he supported the communication work of Religions for Peace (RfP), collaborated with the United Religions Initiative (URI) and the Parliament of World Religions, among other organizations.Personally, Vasu Bandhu wants to make interfaith more accessible, when English is often prevalent at international gatherings, including offering interpretation as a matter of course. Their actions
We met Vasu Bandhu and Rev. Katie from Arizona Faith Network, two people deeply committed both spiritually and to justice! The Arizona Faith Network (AFN) @az.faith.network was founded in 1940 as a Protestant Christian organization and became ecumenical in 1960. The organization later evolved into an interfaith association and brings together people of nearly 26 different religious and spiritual beliefs. It organizes visits to places of worship and events that it calls “Faith 101”. The association implements actions of dialogue, solidarity and strong advocacy on social justice issues. The members meet in committees by themes of work and engage on the issue of the rights of native peoples or incarcerated people for example. They pray, share and act together. As executive director and community coordinator, Katie and Vasu Bandhu aim through the actions of the Arizona Faith Network to create friendships and unity between people for the common good!
Their advice? “Allow yourself to be moved and transformed by another tradition without converting, not just coming to talk about your own tradition but learning from others.”
